Abstract. It is remarkable that after many thousands of years of pastoralism in arid and semi‐arid savannas, there is still no clear answer to the basic question: Does livestock grazing have more than a marginal effect on the dynamics of arid and semi‐arid land vegetation? A small study of semi‐arid savanna vegetation along a spatial gradient in grazing pressure, repeated three times over 19 years is used as a basis for discussing the behaviour of dry land vegetation under heavy grazing. Three basic theories are compared: (1) the theory that heavy grazing causes desertification; (2) the theory that heavy grazing causes no directed change in the vegetation of arid and semi‐arid rangelands; and (3) the theory that heavy grazing leads to a switch between alternative states of vegetation. On the basis of the current data the first two theories are rejected, but the conclusion is that there is much evidence for a more complex behaviour of dry rangelands under grazing than what is accommodated in any of the three theories. Probably, site‐specific properties including interactive and indirect effects of herbivory in the system are important for vegetation development under grazing in arid and semi‐arid rangelands.  相似文献

 In samples from 56 populations of Cardamine amara, representing four diploid subspecies (subspp. amara, opicii, balcanica, and pyrenaea) and two tetraploid subspecies (subspp. austriaca and olotensis) from different parts of the European distribution area, four enzyme systems with 23 alleles were studied. These data, together with previous morphological and karyological data, suggest that the distribution and variation pattern within the species was strongly influenced by the last glacial period and postglacial migrations. Cardamine amara subsp. pyrenaea is monomorphic for a unique allele, and subsp. balcanica has a unique allele, too which, however, is not fixed in all populations of the taxon. Both taxa seem to be relic ones, although otherwise subsp. balcanica in respect of allelic spectrum much resembles subsp. amara. The other two diploid subspecies, subsp. amara and subsp. opicii, are not characterised by presence of unique alleles but differ in allele frequencies. The two tetraploid subspecies have different evolutionary histories. C. amara subsp. austriaca seems to be an autopolyploid derivative of subsp. amara which colonised open space offered by retreating glaciers in the Eastern Alps. C. amara subsp. olotensis from the Iberian Peninsula represents most probably a polyploid of preglacial time. 本研究将2009年1月和2010年1月小兴安岭大沾河湿地自然保护区二可河林场内驼鹿冬季食性作为原始数据,分别以对应分析(CA)、去趋势分析(DCA),并将数据以样本为单位进行标准化后,再进行去趋势分析(DCA_std)3种排序方法,对驼鹿冬季取食模式进行了研究,后通过普鲁克分析,比较了不同排序方法对大型有蹄类取食模式研究的效果。结果表明,3种排序法的1轴和2轴均能涵盖绝大多数信息量,CA涵盖79.27%,DCA涵盖66.65%,DCA_std涵盖68.22%;3种方法均能够在1轴上区分针叶树和落叶乔木类食物,在2轴上,3种方法主要能够达到针叶树种与除落叶乔木外的其他植物类别的区分。虽三者均能够展现有蹄类取食模式,但在图形可视化后,仅DCA_std无明显的弓形效应。普鲁克分析结果表明,DCA_std样本位移平方和与CA和DCA均有很大差异,即将数据先进行标准化再进行DCA分析能够有效去除弓形效应。因此,在由多度组成的食性数据在进行标准DCA分析前,应对数据进行前期处理会得到更好的效果。同时,以样本为单位的标准化将使排序分析结果生态学意义更明确。  相似文献

The domestication and artificial selection of wild boars have led to dramatic morphological and behavioral changes, especially in East Chinese (ECN) pigs. Here, we provide insights into the population structure and current genetic diversity of representative ECN pig breeds. We identify a 500-kb region containing six tooth development-relevant genes with almost completely different haplotypes between ECN pigs and Chinese wild boars or European domestic pigs. Notably, the c.195A>G missense mutation in exon 2 of AMBN may cause alterations in its protein structure associated with tusk degradation in ECN pigs. In addition, ESR1 may play an important role in the reproductive performance of ECN pigs. A major haplotype of the large lop ear-related MSRB3 gene and eight alleles in the deafness-related GRM7 gene may affect ear morphology and hearing in ECN pigs. Interestingly, we find that the two-end black (TEB) coat color in Jinhua pigs is most likely caused by EDNRB with genetic mechanisms different from other Chinese TEB pigs. This study identifies key loci that may be artificially selected in Chinese native pigs related to the tusk, coat color, and ear morphology, thus providing new insights into the genetic mechanisms of domesticated pigs.  相似文献

In the course of a single decade single molecule microscopy has changed from being a secluded domain shared merely by physicists with a strong background in optics and laser physics to a discipline that is now enjoying vivid attention by life-scientists of all venues 1. This is because single molecule imaging has the unique potential to reveal protein behavior in situ in living cells and uncover cellular organization with unprecedented resolution below the diffraction limit of visible light 2. Glass-supported planar lipid bilayers (SLBs) are a powerful tool to bring cells otherwise growing in suspension in close enough proximity to the glass slide so that they can be readily imaged in noise-reduced Total Internal Reflection illumination mode 3,4. They are very useful to study the protein dynamics in plasma membrane-associated events as diverse as cell-cell contact formation, endocytosis, exocytosis and immune recognition. Simple procedures are presented how to generate highly mobile protein-functionalized SLBs in a reproducible manner, how to determine protein mobility within and how to measure protein densities with the use of single molecule detection. It is shown how to construct a cost-efficient single molecule microscopy system with TIRF illumination capabilities and how to operate it in the experiment.  相似文献

Even if European river management and restoration are largely supported by the use of reliable tools, these tools are most often “generalist” and provide only initial leads of alteration sources. Acknowledging that young-of-the-year (YOY) fish assemblages are highly dependent on riverine habitat conditions, the development of a YOY-based tool might be very useful or even essential in the design and implementation of conservation or restoration plan of large rivers, in measuring more straight-forward the losses and gains of hydro-ecological functionalities. In the past 20 years, new modeling techniques have emerged from a growing sophistication of statistical model applied to ecology. “Machine learning methods” (ML) are now recognized as holding great promise for the advancement of understanding and prediction of ecological phenomena. The aim of this work was to select the appropriate statistical technique to model YOY assemblages according to different meso-scale habitat variables that are meaningful to planners. To do this, two “Machine Learning” methods, Classification and Regression Trees (CART) and Boosted Regression Trees (BRT), were compared to Generalized Linear Models (GLM). We modeled the occurrence of 9 species from the Seine River basin (France) in order to compare models abilities to accurately predict the presence and absence of each species. BRT appeared to be the best technique for modeling 0+ fish occurrences in our dataset.  相似文献

Tetraselmis sp. and Nannochloropsis oculata, cultivated in industrial‐scale bioreactors, produced 2.33 and 2.44% w/w lipid (calculated as the sum of fatty acid methyl esters) in dry biomass, respectively. These lipids contained higher amounts of neutral lipids and glycolipids plus sphingolipids, than phospholipids. Lipids of Tetraselmis sp. were characterized by the presence of eicosapentaenoic acid (that was located mainly in phospholipids), and octadecatetraenoic acid (that was equally distributed among lipid fractions), while these fatty acids were completely absent in N. oculata lipids. Additionally, lipids produced by 16 newly isolated strains from Greek aquatic environments (cultivated in flask reactors) were studied. The highest percentage of lipids was found in Prorocentrum triestinum (3.69% w/w) while the lowest in Prymnesium parvum (0.47% w/w). Several strains produced lipids rich in eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acids. For instance, docosahexaenoic acid was found in high percentages in lipids of Amphidinium sp. S1, P. parvum, Prorocentrum minimum and P. triestinum, while lipids produced by Asterionella sp. (?) S2 contained eicosapentaenoic acid in high concentration. These lipids, containing ω‐3‐long‐chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, have important applications in the food and pharmaceutical industries and in aquaculture.  相似文献

目的:探讨持续颅内压(ICP)监测对大面积脑梗死外科治疗预后的应用价值。方法:选取2013年3月至2018年3月期间在我院接受治疗的大面积脑梗死患者100例作为研究对象,所有患者经去骨瓣减压术后行ICP监测和生命体征监测,通过结果分为:低压组62例(2.70kPa≤ICP5.30kPa),高压组38例(ICP≥5.30 kPa)。记录患者ICP监测数值,接收者操作特征(ROC)曲线分析患者预后情况,对患者进行术后3个月内随访,了解患者平常活动能力进行判断预后的状况。观察ICP与预后的相关性。结果:两组患者性别、年龄、室速、室性早搏、糖尿病、高血压病、脑卒中、高脂血症、风心病、冠心病、扩张性心肌病、既往心肌梗死、肥厚性心肌病、甲亢性心脏病等资料比较差异无统计学意义(P0.05)。低压组患者中预后良好的ICP监测值显著低于预后不良者(P0.05),高压组中预后良好的ICP监测值显著低于预后不良者(P0.05)。ICP预测大面积脑梗死外科治疗预后的ROC曲线面积0.704,采用最大约等指数计算得出ICP预测大面积脑梗死外科治疗预后的最大AUC面积相应参数截止值为4.89,其中敏感度为0.435,特异性为0.896。结论:持续ICP监测结果显示ICP值越小,患者的预后就越好,ICP值越高,患者的预后越差。ICP监测对大面积脑梗死外科治疗的预后具有预测价值,对判断和改善预后能起到有效帮助,值得在临床推广应用。  相似文献
